In collaboration with Cantilever, a “digital hospitality” agency that specializes in web design and development, Verve & Concord developed the foundational brand elements, visual direction and website design for the American Energy Innovation Council, a organization sponsored by the Bipartisan Policy Center. AEIC is comprised of CEOs, technology and labor leaders dedicated to raising the country’s commitment to energy innovation.
We developed two brand concepts for AEIC; they chose one we called “Flow”—the idea that energy appears in various forms that are continuously moving and forming. To maintain an indirect connection to their parent organization, we used brand elements from BPC while introducing new ones to distinguish AEIC and its specific mission.
We introduced new colors, such as a bright and energetic blue, just for AEIC. We also pulled in a wide, futuristic font called Fluro to provide a more techy, modern look to typography. The use of gradients, curved edges, and abstract, wave-like imagery all ladder up the identity that speaks the idea of “flow.”
Lastly, the logo aims to communicate a combination of ideas that represent who AEIC is: the shape of a gear to represent the energy-creating machinery of the past, an atom to represent the energy possibilities of the future, and a group of people coming together to support a common mission of energy innovation.
