If you came to my home you'd notice the number of candles and diffusers in each room. Maybe it's my strong sense of smell, but I love having something scented in every space to greet someone and perfume the area. Inspired by scent I own that's meant to evoke my home state of Florida, I created ByLine as a personal project to show how a literature-inspired home fragrances company would look.

This brand is made for the female bookworm who loves to splurge on luxury accessories as much as she enjoys curling up with a good book and a glass of wine. It's feminine, sophisticated and restrained without being overly simple. The color palette relies mainly on black and taupe—the color of print on book pages. The logo is type-based, with a script "L" in "Line" to evoke the look of a signature or autograph in a manuscript or book. The icon accompanying it is a simplified feather, inspired by the feather in a writing quill.

While the scents don't actually exist, I imagined them to be inspired by an author and their hometown, birthplace, or notable residence: Key West for Ernest Hemingway, Hampton for Jane Austen, and Baltimore for Edgar Allan Poe.
